On Saturday September 22^nd, 2007 the town of Abingdon , VA celebrated the Dedication of Retirement from Private to Public Ownership, the Re-Certification of the Mustering Grounds and the unveiling of the new Marker celebrating the 16 Virginians that were killed or mortally wounded at the Battle of Kings Mountain, October 7, 1780
