The view shed in this picture is one of the projects the OVTA is working on preserving with the National Park Service, CSX Railroad, the Conservation Trust of North Carolina the Blue Ridge Parkway, The Orchard at Altapass and many others. 

When this project is completed, the area in this picture will be protected by a conservation easement. In this area, there is almost 3 miles of the original trail that was used by the Patriot Militia in 1780 during their campaign to the Battle of Kings Mountain.
