The Spring Muster will be Saturday, May 16 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM and Sunday, May 17^th from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. This will be a living history event so please let me know if you would like to do a demonstration, display, talk, or presentation.

Colonial Trade Faire Early Frontier Days (Friday, May 22, 2026)

Experience life on the early American frontier at Early Frontier Days, presented by the Rocky Mount Historical Association & Overmountain Victory Trail Association (OVTA)! This immersive living history event brings the 18th century to life with hands-on demonstrations, engaging presentations, and dramatic storytelling.

NEW! This year will also feature a full Colonial Trades Fair. We have asked vendors from all over to join us this year in showing off their honed historical crafts!

Event Highlights:

Living History Demonstrations: Watch weaving, blacksmithing, and other frontier trades in action.
Militia Encampment: Discover 18th-century military life and learn survival skills.
Historical Presentations: Uncover the Overmountain Men’s pivotal role in the American Revolution.
Explore Historic Buildings: Meet costumed interpreters inside the Cobb House and original cabins.
Storytelling by the Fire: Enjoy captivating tales of frontier life under the stars.

9:30 am - arrival and staging With a small area and short event, this isn't the best place to set up tents or booths, keep the load light!.

10:00 am - Formal Dedication and Remarks

10:30 am – OVTA Friends Volley on Court Street

10:45 am - NPS Dress-Up Station and photo booth

11:00 am - 12:00 pm - Indoor Activity: Norris Public Library for OVTA storytelling.

Liberation Day (Saturday, July 25, 2026)

The Friends of Thicketty Fort in Gaffney, S.C. and Cherokee Historical and Preservation Society (CHAPS) will celebrate Liberation Day again this year on Saturday July 25, 2026.

This will be CHAPS S.C. 250^th Event.
